Our Program
What is Play Based Learning?
“Play nourishes every aspect of children’s development-it forms the foundation of intellectual, social, physical, and emotional skills necessary for success in school and in life.” – Canadian Council on Learning
Play-Based Learning is the experience of learning through play. Play is essential to the whole rounded development of children. By implementing Play-Based Learning at Village Scholars Preschool your child will achieve success by exploring, thinking, creating, and doing, all in a safe and comfortable environment. We provide all children with the ability to truly engage and interact with their own education, enabling them to extend and create connections between past, present and future experiences.
Play-Based Learning succeeds through the active participation of children, their family, and our educators, together.
Play-Based Learning at Village Scholars Preschool
At Village Scholars Preschool our teachers purposefully plan lessons by catering activities to the uniqueness of the students, making education personally relevant and instilling a love of learning in each child. In each classroom, you will find your child’s teachers actively participating in the learning process. Through Play-Based Learning, the curriculum at Village Scholars Preschool is not limited by what we think your child should be learning about, but is created through the observed interests of yours, and every child, at Village Scholars Preschool.
Jolly Phonics
Jolly Phonics is a multi-sensory phonics program that teaches the foundational skills for students to read, write, and spell in a fun and energizing environment. Teachers engage students through sight, touch, and auditory stimulation. Examples include songs, puppets and more to teach phonetic sounds and pre-writing skills. The program has been practiced worldwide and is supported by a number of independent research studies that have yielded extremely impressive results.
